Bonna Cannon brings a wealth of experience in engineering, operations, and food safety to her role at Canyonside Labs. Raised on a small family farm in Kansas, she developed an early passion for problem-solving and entrepreneurship starting her first business as a 4-H project while in 2nd grade. Bonna graduated as Valedictorian of her high school class and earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Kansas State University.
Her professional journey began with Praxair, where she held various engineering positions delivering projects across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. Drawn to the Rocky Mountains, Bonna moved to Idaho to work with Basic American Foods in operations and engineering roles, concurrently earning a Master’s in Engineering Management from the University of Idaho.
Bonna's career trajectory includes leading a fruit packing company in Washington and serving as Director of Quality and Food Safety at Tree Top, where she developed a comprehensive Supplier Management program encompassing over 22 co-manufacturing operations. In 2016, she returned to Idaho to join Chobani as Director of Food Safety, Quality, and Sanitation. Her leadership roles have also included Food Processing Program Manager at the College of Southern Idaho, VP of Food Safety, Sanitation, Quality, and Assurance at The Cheesecake Factory, and Director of Engineering at Clif Bar.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Bonna enjoys flying, hiking, and exploring Idaho with her son and their two dogs.
